Description
As part of our ongoing STEM efforts, Amiosec were invited by the NCSC Cyber Schools Hub to this event to support Sixth Form students of Computer Science at Tewkesbury School. Amiosec helped to welcome the students and provide an insight into careers available in the engineering industry.
CyNam is the biggest regular cyber security event in the South West, dedicated to bringing the Cheltenham and Gloucestershire cyber security and technology community together for evenings of presentations, networking and collaboration. The event focused on the challenges faced by Operational Technology (OT) organisations as they come to terms with cyber security as a reality and various presentations addressed the many aspects of Cyber Threats in operational environments. There was a talk on ‘ethical hacking’ which included a simulated Cyber Attack and the evening concluded with a senior representative at NCSC discussing the threats that affect the whole nation such as the “WannaCry” virus that disrupted the NHS in 2017.
The event was a great success with fantastic feedback from the students. We look forward to the next event!
