Amiosec has been selected by the UK’s Defence and Security Accelerator (DASA) to receive a share of the research funding to develop solutions in electromagnetic targeting and protection. Projects from four UK organisations will share £2m in the inaugural AUKUS Pillar 2 Electronic Warfare Innovation Challenge.
Amiosec’s 10-month project seeks to create fake radio activity, masking the true location of friendly military forces to support specialist missions. The research will focus on extending previous work on AI-generated traffic to boost realism to defeat adversary EW systems. The DASA task will package our decoy technology into a software application that can be installed on different AUKUS military platforms, widening its potential employment and extending protection for allied forces. This project will be delivered in conjunction with our Australian defence technology partners, Penten.
“Amiosec are proud to have been awarded the advanced electronic decoy research contract, helping to support critical missions and ultimately save lives and influence the outcomes in future conflict”, says Ben Whitham, CTO at Amiosec.
“We’re delighted to be widening the potential of our TrapRadio capability and working alongside the great minds at DSTL and our Australian technology partners, Penten. It is an excellent example of cross-country collaboration that the AUKUS partnership is delivering to the UK MoD.”
In related news, Penten has also been selected to deliver the Australian component of the same EW Challenge by Defence’s Advanced Strategic Capabilities Accelerator.
Amiosec have worked closely with Penten for more than a decade, with each business celebrating official ten-year milestones this year. Having both businesses win their in-country component of the AUKUS EW Challenge is a fantastic achievement that will harness the combined engineering expertise of both organisations to deliver game-changing capabilities to Defence and Government.
